[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Thanks to The Wonderful World of Disney, Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary special on ABC, viewers were treated to a few new snippets of Shanghai Disneyland, scheduled to open on June 16, 2016.

Most of the footage contained artwork and information previously released so there wasn’t anything all too earth shattering from the special. But we did catch some new glimpses.

S1

Is there anyone more excited about Tron Lightcycle Power Run than me? I seriously doubt it.

This is a first of its kind for a Disney park and represents a clear departure from the traditional Tomorrowland we have come to expect. I cannot wait to ride this when I eventually travel to Shanghai, someday, somehow, some way.

S3

Check out those light cycles! I want to go on this so bad!!!

S4

Here, we get a really nice shot inside the park of Treasure Cove, a fully immersive pirate-themed land.

S5

Lots of details and theming in place already.

S6

And a slightly closer shot of the cannon battle from Pirates of the Caribbean: Battle for the Sunken Treasure.

There are a surprising number of attraction “firsts” at this park, and it will be interesting to see which emerges as the crown jewel. My money is on this incarnation of Pirates of the Caribbean, where your boat will travel along a trackless river, and can twist, turn, move forward, backwards, and spin. This, combined with state-of-the-art animatronics and some breathtaking visual effects, will bring an entirely new dimension to this classic attraction, and is sure to be a game changer.

S7

And we caught a closer animated glimpse of an attacking monster known as the Q’araq on Roaring Rapids located in Adventure Isle. This ride looks like a very close cousin to Grizzly River Run at Disney California Adventure, but with the added thrill of what looks to be a humongous animatronic. Really, this is what Grizzly River Run needed when it opened – an encounter with a giant animatronic grizzly bear.

It may be over budget and behind schedule, as rumored, but perhaps for good reason. Shanghai Disneyland looks like it is going to be incredible.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
