With Star Wars Land coming to Disneyland, and Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! replacing the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure, the big question is: Where is everyone going to park?

Disney is addressing this with a new parking structure and elevated walkway project, dubbed the Eastern Gateway Project, which is expected to be completed in advance of the opening of Star Wars Land.

The new parking structure will be seven stories, with 6,800 parking spaces. As a reference, the current Mickey and Friends parking structure is six stories and about 10,000 parking spaces.

A new raised pedestrian walkway will be built on the site of the existing Carousel Inn & Suites, which Disney recently purchased for $32 million. The walkway will pass over Harbor Blvd, freeing up street-level pedestrian traffic, making the walk much more safe, and will connect to the large esplanade area with the entrances to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.

In just a few short years, the resort is going to be completely transformed, inside and out. Really exciting times in Anaheim right now.
